The Learning Circuits‘ Big Question on the future of workplace learning has had a good range of responses summarised by Tony Karrer here. Interesting to not the continued acknowledgment of a merging of work and learning mirroring the recognition of the role of informal and non-formal learning in the workplace (see here and here). This is an acknowledgment of what is happening in the workplace rather than any great leap forward in practice.

I think the discussion following Tony’s summary on the capabilities of the profession is highly pertinent especially as the revision of the CIPD professional standards/ qualifications appears to do little to prepare the L&D professional for this future.
